1. Risk Fields Used to Calculate the Risk Score

SILO calculates the Risk Score based on these seven fields:

  • Jurisdiction/Country

  • Industry

  • Services

  • Notable Risks

  • PEP Type (Individuals only)

  • Delivery Channels

  • Client Type

Note: Jurisdiction risk is evaluated across all country-related fields:

  • Jurisdiction of Formation

  • Nationality

  • Place of Birth

  • Physical Addresses

  • Other Related Countries

2. When the Risk Score Is Calculated

  • SILO generates a Risk Score when any of the seven fields are populated.

  • The Risk Score updates dynamically as field values are changed.

3. How the Risk Score Is Calculated

SILO uses a segmented, capped model:

  • Each risk field contributes independently

  • If multiple values exist in one field, only the highest score is counted

  • This avoids inflated risk from cumulative low-risk attributes

Examples:

  • Example 1:

    • Jurisdiction: Country A (Score = 1)

    • Final Risk Score: 1

  • Example 2:

    • Jurisdictions: Country A (1), Country B (10)

    • Final Risk Score: 10

  • Example 3:

    • Jurisdiction: Country B (10), Industry: X (1)

    • Final Risk Score: 11

  • Example 4:

    • Jurisdiction: Country B (10), Industry: Y (10)

    • Final Risk Score: 20

4. Additional Notes on Risk Fields

  • Multi-select fields only count the highest-risk value

  • Client Type does not allow multi-select but contributes to score

  • All score values are configured by SILO per client firm

5. Running Risk Score Reports

To view Risk Scores across profiles:

  1. Navigate to Reports > Risk

  2. Leave filters blank

  3. Click Run Report

  4. Export to Excel for advanced sorting and filtering

6. Updating Risk Score Values (Admin-Level)

To change the score for a specific dropdown value (e.g., a country or industry):

  1. Submit a request to SILO Support

  2. Obtain signed approval from a Director or Senior Manager

  3. SILO will supply a list of impacted profiles

  4. The Compliance Manager must confirm:

    • Updated Risk Ratings are appropriate

    • Due diligence requirements are still aligned

7. Practical Tips

  • Risk Score β‰  Risk Rating: Ratings are often based on scores but not identical

  • Manually review high scores before escalating Risk Ratings

  • Use audit logs and version history to track score changes
